PEDERNALES
A medium to large point having a triangular blade with straight to slightly
concave or convex edges, prominently barbed shoulders and moderately long
straight, contracting, or a slightly expanding stem. The basal edges slightly
concave to deeply indented or bifurcated. The bifurcation's range from pointed
to rounded. Stem edge grinding is rare. Named by J. Charles Kelley after the
Pedernales River, which were many were found.
Age and Culture : An Archaic point of the Round Rock phase dating from approximately 1450 B.C. to 650 B.C.
Distribution : Central Texas and in peripheral area's sometimes extending into Southern Oklahoma. They are not found in East or Southwest Texas.
