Levy

A Florida point type, (Bullen 1975) Medium to large, a subtype of the Florida archaic stemmed. A middle archaic point with an ovate blade, both barbed and non-barbed examples are found. The stem is contracting and may be thinned. Exhibits a continuous curved edge from tip of stem to tip of barb or shoulder. The Levy is made of heat altered cherts or corals with west central Florida being the center of distribution. Most often confused with Hardee plain, Newnan and Seminole points.
