GARZA

GENERAL DESCRIPTION :  This is a small, thin, triangular blade with v-shaped to u-shaped basal notches. Blade edges are straight, concave, recurved or convex. The basal edge is straight to concave. Basal notches may be small and shallow to deep and broad. The base is expanded with corners sometimes having sharp diagonal projections that may serve as barbs when hafted.

AGE AND CULTURE :  Thought to be Lipian Apache, dating from A.D. 1400 to A.D. 1600. At the Lubbock lake site in Texas, the Garza point was dated to A.D. 1600. It has been found associated with Harrell points.

DISTRIBUTION :  Primarily in western Texas and Southern New Mexico.
