BASSETT
GENERAL DESCRIPTION : A small arrow point having a triangular blade and V-shaped basal notches. barbs are sharp. The stem contracts to rounded or pointed end, and may be short to moderately long, reaching the minimal length of the stem of the Perdiz point. Some Burial points have serrated edges. The Bassett point was named by Clarence H. Webb.
AGE AND CULTURE : The Bassett point dates from A.D. 1500 to A.D. 1700 and is found on late Caddoan points of the Fulton period, often associated with Maud points.
DISTRIBUTION : Primarily in Northeastern Texas and areas of Louisiana and Arkansas. A few have been found in Southeastern Oklahoma.
