Washita
GENERAL DESCRIPTION : This
small triangular side notched arrow point often has side notches high up from
the base. Side edges are straight to slightly convex ; The basal edge is
straight. The Washita point was named by Dee Ann Suhm , Alex D. Krieger and
Edward B. Jelks as a sub-type of the Harrell point and for it's major
distributional area along the Washita River in South central Oklahoma.
AGE AND CULTURE : A late
prehistoric eastern Caddoan and plains Caddoan point dating from A.D. 1100 to
A.D. 1700.
DISTRIBUTION : Oklahoma,
Northern Texas, Kansas and other plains states where Caddoan people lived.
