Hillsborough
A Florida point type, middle archaic point type with an ovate to
straight sided blade, sharp barbs sweeping back and a small
triangular stem makes the Hillsborough look like a stylized
Newnan type. Sometimes the stem may be rounded, squared on the
very tip or appear snapped. Some Hillsborough points exhibit a
short 45 degree beveled edge on blade edges, similar to the
Hardee Beveled point type. Made of heat altered cherts and corals
these points are colorful, a favorite of collectors and modern
knappers. See Newnan, Levy and Marion.
