Holland
Holland outcrops occur in Dubois County near the town of Holland, Indiana. Typical color is a greyish-blue with streaks of yellow or dark red with flowing parallel lines as in a layered look. Texture is waxy to porcelaneous. It is a high quality chert with a few fossils, causing cavities with quartz inclusions. This material is often confused with Flint Ridge flint of Ohio. Holland can be transparent to opaque, but not as much as Flint Ridge. Also has the name of Ferdinand, which is the black color variety, and is also referrred to as Dubois County Chert.
