This grouping of Basalt is found throughout Region 11 and Canada.

Description: Basalt is a hard, black volcanic rock with less than about 52 weight percent silica (SiO2)

Texture:  Ranges from very fine to coarse

Colors: Black, Green, Brown, Grey Blue

Basalt Family: Dacite, Andesite, Rhyolite
