| Extra Info: |
I am 1/8 Cherokee/Saponi mixed blood Native American. I am an outdoors man, love nature, martial arts, guns, and of course, artifacts that share the people's history and culture from long ago. I live about a 30 minutes drive from Morrow Mountain, NC and not much further from the Hardaway site in Stanly County, therefore I have always had an interest in artifacts, especially the local sites. My dad was part Saponi, so I have spent quite a bit of time with the Occaneechi-Saponi Tribe in Hillsborough, NC, where the big Occaneechi Excavation was conducted by the folks at Chapel hill. I have met many of the folks who conducted many of the studies of the artifacts at Occaneechi Town. Im not big on anyone digging burials at all, as its a sacred thing to our ancestors, but non funerary artifacts help preserve and tell the story of a very important part of our past. |
